Support Worker

Role Summary

A support worker is someone who looks after the well-being of people in their daily lives. They help people living with different physical disabilities and mental health needs to live their lives more independently and support them to reach their potential by providing both physical and emotional support.  

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide direct personal care assistance to individual clients in accordance with their care plan. The daily living activities include showering, toileting, grooming, dressing, meal preparation, serving and feeding (if required), medication administration and domestic duties.  

  • Carry out domestic cleaning to ensure the house is clean 

  • Administer pre-packed medication using the medication profile and direction in the package

  • Prepare meals for clients and ensure client’s dietary requirements are met

  • Provide transport assistance to clients for attending appointments, employment, etc.

  • Report any concerns about the safety or welfare of the client

  • Write daily progress on each client on the services provided   

  • Report on general incidents and medication incidents

  • Prepare shopping list such as grocery and stationery for clients and house

Skills, Attributes and Experience

Our ideal candidates will have previous experience in a similar role. We are looking for naturally caring, empathetic people who take joy from playing a crucial role in the care and assistance of their clients. Our ideal candidates are also committed team players who are passionate about enhancing the lives and independence of the residents they work with. They also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.  

Key criteria includes: 

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check 

  • Proof of working rights - Passport or visa 

  • Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle 

  • Valid Working with Children Check issued in WA

  • Previous experience as a support worker in the health/disability sector or a relevant Cert III qualification is highly desirable.
